How are those women to blame….but not the father/man/husband/boyfriend?
And many, many single mothers are that way BY CHOICE. I didn’t get pregnant by accident, I wanted to have a child and also to raise and pay for him myself. I have that right. And I made sure that my decision never required anyone else paying for it (and I’ve never gotten a single dime of free anything, any Child Support, or even low-cost Healthcare….at the moment I have NO health insurance and pay cash up front at private doctors for each visit and each shot my son needs.
I get up and go to work just like the million of single mothers, single fathers, and MARRIED COUPLES do every day. And here in the United States ALL of those groups are EQUALLY eligible (or ineligible like myself) to apply for and receive Welfare and there is no “women only” clause. There isn’t even a “single parents only” clause.
Here’s the United States requirements for Welfare (which includes the low-cost daycare, subsidized housing, food stamps, low cost healthcare, etc):
“Who is Eligible for Welfare in the United States?”
To be eligible for welfare in the United States, an applicant must be a United States citizen or lawfully admitted to the country for permanent residence. Some exceptions may apply to citizenship rules. When an individual applies for welfare, his or her citizenship status is reviewed, along with the status of each household member, before assistance is granted. Each state has its own residency requirements as well. For example, to be eligible in Pennsylvania, an individual must be living within the state and have the intention of remaining there.
